Fiona Prescott

Vice Chair (Membership) and Disability Officer

I’m thrilled to be taking an active role with the committee. I’ve lived in Bucks all my life, growing up in Chalfont St Giles and Wendover and attending Aylesbury High School. I’ve lived in Aylesbury all my adult life. I trained as an engineer before taking a side step into logistics and contract management. After becoming a mum, I took on a new career as a Personal Trainer and freelanced around many of the local gyms and leisure centres teaching classes for many years. I worked with the former district council developing and delivering community fitness programmes for women, teens and children. I also enjoyed working with Bucks Probation Service providing grant funded fitness and wellbeing courses for women who had been through the justice system. Disability has brought an end to my career in the fitness industry but I keep myself busy with knitting whenever I can and growing fruit and vegetables on my allotment. I love being outdoors and enjoy learning about the plants and creatures around us. I’m an active Trustee with a local disability charity and am currently studying journalism and media.

I’m a firm believer that if you want to see change, you need to get involved and make it happen. We all have something to offer, whether that’s joining the discussion and offering your views in our relaxed and friendly CLP meetings, or by taking up an active campaign role as we head out to talk to people in the community. I am proud to say that Aylesbury Labour is a broad church with people from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds represented in our membership. I want to see a happier, healthier, more peaceful and prosperous life for all of us. As a disabled person myself, I have a keen interest in helping to remove barriers and creating more accessible spaces. I am motivated to act when I see injustice and unfairness and I hope I can be part of a change for good.
