Jacqui Jacques
My name is Jacqui Jacques and I have been a Labour Party member for over 10 years. I am also a secondary school teacher in a local school in Aylesbury, where I have been teaching for over 25 years.
My name is Jacqui Jacques and I have been a Labour Party member for over 10 years. I am also a secondary school teacher in a local school in Aylesbury, where I have been teaching for over 25 years. I am married with 2 grown up sons. In addition, I am an active and very passionate member of my teaching union the NEU (National Education Union). Having already been the work place rep for the last 7 years, I started to get more involved in my union about 3 years ago. I hold the post of International Solidarity Officer on the regional exec and I am currently on the national forum representing my region. I was fortunate to be a delegate on the NEU delegation to Cuba in October 2022, which has galvanised my interest in international solidarity work.
I am very keen to forge links with local trade unions and their membership in order to show solidarity on days of action, campaigning and strike days. I hope that in the future, we can offer each other mutual support, which is even more vital in the current climate, where the cost of living crisis is squeezing our budgets and the government are not listening to the unions.
I am keen to hear from any Labour Party members who are also trade union members, and in particular, reps or shop stewards. If any of you know of any trade union speakers, or would be willing to speak about your experience within your union, please also get in touch. We really need to all work together in order to improve the lives of working people.
